On the Hamm Museum Day on the first Sunday of every month, EVERYONE has free admission to the permanent exhibitions, including exhibitions in the S-Wing, and reduced-price admission to special exhibitions in the Skylight Hall.

The Gustav Lübcke Museum is centrally located in the city of Hamm. The museum is a two-minute walk from the main railway and coach station and is accessible via a barrier-free route.

Arriving by bicycle & e-bike
There are bicycle stands directly in front of the museum. At the main station, there is a bicycle station where bicycles can be parked under cover and e-bike batteries recharged (https://www.radstation-hamm.de/). There are also bicycle stands provided by metropolradruhr at the main station (https://www.hamm.de/metropolradruhr).
Arriving by train
- Regional and long-distance trains stop at the Hamm (Westf) Hbf station
- Alight at Hamm (Westf) Hbf and head towards the city centre
Arriving by bus
Bus stops:
- Hbf. / Willi-Brandt-Platz: lines 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12, 13, 26, 27, 32, 140, R14, R37, R41, and S20, as well as the night service lines N1, N2, N3, N4, N5 und N7
- Neue Bahnhofstraße: lines 7 and 9
The museum is already visible from both bus stops.
Coach stops are located at the following places:
- Coach bay at Hamm Central Station/West Exit, Unionstraße
- Bus lane at Mercure Hotel Hamm (west side)
- Schwarzer Weg coach bay
Arriving by car
- A2: Take the Hamm exit towards Hamm/Innenstadt; follow Werler Straße (B 63) towards the main station
- A1: Take the Hamm/Bergkamen exit towards Hamm/Innenstadt; follow Dortmunder Straße (B 61) towards the main station
Charging points
There are two charging points at the main station for electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids:
- Willy-Brandt-Platz opposite the B&B Hotel
- Willy-Brandt-Platz opposite the Helios-Theater and the bicycle station
Parking
The Gustav-Lübcke Museum does not have its own car park. Please use the following options:
- Parking spaces on Schwarzer Weg and the adjacent side streets
- Park 24 car park, Bahnhofstraße 19 (for navigation devices: Am Stadtbad 4)
- Multi-storey car park at the main station | Heinrich-von-Kleist-Forum (entrance on Gustav-Heinemann-Straße)
- Parking for holders of a severe disability permit | Ferdinand-Poggel-Straße
Accessibility
Accessibility at the Gustav Lübcke Museum
We aim to make our museum accessible to everyone. We already offer:
- Wheelchair-accessible entry via a ramp at the main entrance
- Wheelchair-accessible access to all exhibition rooms via lifts
- A wheelchair-accessible toilet and nappy-changing facilities on the fully accessible lower level
- Free accessible telephone tours of the current special exhibitions are generally available once a month (Bei Anruf Kultur)
In addition, wheelchairs, buggies and folding stools can be borrowed free of charge from the museum ticket desk.
Assistance dogs welcome!
At the Gustav-Lübcke-Museum, we warmly welcome assistance dogs, provided they are appropriately identified. If you are visiting with an assistance dog, please let us know so that we can provide you with the best possible support.

Café KunstWerke
A café in the heart of the museum!
The café is situated in the heart of the Gustav Lübcke Museum, on the first floor, behind the building’s spacious glass façade. Bathed in natural light, it offers guests an unobstructed view of the inner courtyard, as well as an impressive vista of the architecturally distinctive interior. Barrier-free access to the café and free admission were key considerations from the outset of the planning process.
© GLM, Foto: Thorsten Hübner There are 45 seats in total, spread across smaller tables for two, tables for four, a large communal table and a few seats at the central counter. The technical infrastructure enables guests to work on a laptop at many of the tables. There is also a reliable and free Wi-Fi network. Younger visitors are also welcome, with a dedicated children’s table and a colouring and reading corner. Overall, Café KunstWerke is a meeting place that offers a very high quality of stay.
A wide range of hot and cold drinks, cakes, open sandwiches and hot meals is on offer.

The Gustav-Lübcke-Museum’s shop is characterised by a light-filled space featuring catalogues, art books and specialist publications on the museum’s key collection areas, as well as unusual design items, original souvenirs and surprising finds for young and old alike.

Library
The Library of the Gustav-Lübcke-Museum comprises specialist literature in the fields of art and cultural studies, with a focus on the museum’s collection areas: Egyptology, archaeology, applied arts, 20th-century art, graphic arts and the city’s history.
Of particular note is the extensive selection of current art journals, reference works and artist monographs, as well as a wide range of collection and exhibition catalogues. The holdings are constantly growing through targeted acquisitions.
Items cannot be borrowed. You are welcome to view the materials on site.

Art to borrow!
Spanning around 130 m², the Artothek showcases contemporary artworks by regional and national artists. The diverse collection includes paintings, drawings, prints, photographs and sculptures.
The Artothek has been run by volunteers since 2008. For a nominal fee, artworks can be borrowed for three months — or longer, if desired. You can also be put in touch with the respective artist. Borrowed items are handed over professionally packed.

Yellow category – 6 euros
Green category – 12 euros
Blue category – 20 euros

The Artothek regularly hosts exhibition openings to showcase particular artists. There is also an accompanying programme that facilitates direct exchange, inviting visitors to events such as artist talks.

Forum & Library
With the Forum, the Gustav Lübcke Museum boasts a multifunctional event hall which, in addition to standard theatre-style seating (270 seats), also allows for banquet, conference or parliamentary-style seating, making it an ideal venue for a wide variety of events, such as congresses, symposia or specialist conferences.
In addition, smaller groups (approx. 15 people) can hold workshops, presentations and similar events in the Library.

Get your camera out!
Filming and photographing for editorial and/or private purposes is generally permitted at the Gustav-Lübcke-Museum, albeit without the use of flash, tripods or selfie sticks, unless otherwise indicated.
Only the museum’s existing lighting may be used for photographing and filming. Furthermore, a distance of at least 1.5 metres must be maintained from the artworks.
Please note that fees must be paid to VG Bild-Kunst for commercial use of the images.
